MYSTIC DESTINATIONS

Basically we (Arun and Vijay) have designed this blog "Mystic destinations" to introduce or explore some peculiar areas which are not really explored. On our journey towards home town(From Bangalore to Kerala) last December-2008, both of us decided to visit some places which is really not famous in the tourist map of Kerala. On account of this intention, 27th December morning sharp 8.45am we reached Chettuva Mangrove Forest by bike. It is 7km away from Guruvayoor and 25 Kms far from Thrissur city.

Chettuva Mangrove Forests
Let us explain "What is Mangrove" Forest (or in local language Kandal kaddu). It is nothing but a cluster of hanging shrubs usually seen in river banks. We can call these green water forest as an oxygen purification machine of nature as freshness resides beside it.

More over it is a good inhabitant of certain birds and fishes. We explained this in front of you in order to make you realize that the Mangrove Forest is an inevitable part of our environment.Yes this is the reasonable time to talk about the physical structure of mangrove forest or How does it looks like?. Let me tell you it is a shrub of around 8 feet. It has many brown colour branch stems with bundles of long and narrow green leaves. And its roots are very fleshy and tender and white in colour.

These days nobody is looking forward to take care of Mangrove forest. It is pathetic, that's why we decided to introduce Chettuva Mangrove Forest. These mangroves are stretched over 4 acres of an island of Chetuva river.Over the bridge we shall get splendid view of these Mangroves.

Off course we have basic amenities like hotel Ayurveda therapy centre, Boating, Cool toddy bar etc...The boating was really an unforgettable experience, we spend around four hours. The view of the mangrove was really stunning from the boat. And if we are considering the cost factor of the boating and accommodation was also cheaper compared to other tourist destinations in kerala. The hotel itself providing various kinds of Ayurveda treatments for the guests by the assistance of the expert Ayurveda doctors. And also you can experience nice Kerala cuisines for very cheap rate. But the propagation isn't up to the mark. The main reason behind this is that native people have a general tendency to visit out side. Apart from this as a misconception people have been thinking that if the tourist destination is more expensive, the destination should be good. Why why this ridiculous thinking?. Please guys alter this stereotyped thinking and Plan a trip to here.Another speciality of Chettuva is its estuary, the rare phenomenon which is found not only in India but also in the world.

(Hotel cum Ayurveda Therapy Centre)
By the way, for the further assistance mail us and more over if you have any suggestions we feel free to concern it.

Tipu Sultan's Fort
From Chettuva mangrove forest, we pushed off to Tipu's Fort near the island. Once we reached in front of this fort we were dumbstruck as the fort was covered by forest. "It is very dangerous dangerous to enter inside the fort as it is inhabited with reptiles from range of rat snake to pythons" according to locals. You can understand clearly once you go through the picture, we have screened below.

(Current situation of Tipu's Fort )
It is very sad to say that from the part of Kerala government is not taking any action to save such a famous historic place. It is not unusual in India, there should be many of this type of historically important monuments have been passing through decomposing scenario. And this is a set back for preserving the greatest history of Indians.

Thalikulum Beach (Snehatheream)

From fort at 12.00pm we reached Thalikulam beach. Kerala Government named this beach as 'Sneeha theream' it means 'Shore of love'. We are very glad to tell you that this beach is very famous for its hygienic environment.Firstly there you can see young children's park. This children's park is decorated by gardens.Another attraction of this beach is that twice a year kerala Tourism Development Corporation conducts Pet shows, ornamental fish shows etc..since the Government owned this beach.

Fortunately while we visited the destination, the ornamental fish show was happening .There we have seen variety of both fresh water and marine water fishes, few pictures are given below.

Even though it is Tsunami affected area, apart from past experiences of Tsunami, the people have overcome its feares and are the same hardworking and lively as ever before

Connectivity:- Nearest Airport- Nedumbaserry International Airport, Cochin (from 70km)- Rail way- Thrissur(25km) Guruvayoor-(7km).
